Farming the First StateA sneak peak at the new Hearts and Minds Film about the history, the developing technology, and the economic impact of Delaware's thriving agriculture industry. From peaches and poultry to sweet corn and strawberries, Delaware grows it all! This project was funded by the Delaware Humanities Forum and the Delaware State Department of Agriculture, and will likely be broadcast on public television in 2013.

Made in DE: Home GrownT.S. Smith was established in 1907 by Thomas Sterling Smith and today remains one of two commercial orchards in the State of Delaware. Peaches, apples and other vegetable crops are still picked by hand on the 800 acre farm in Bridgeville, under the supervision of Tom, Matt and Charlie Smith. "Juicy, crispy and tasty" describes Smith produce, where an 80+ year old apple sorter is still in service and going strong! And then there are the cider doughnuts...

A Delicious TraditionThe Mitchell family of Hockessin Delaware has been operating Woodside Farm since 1796. With few gaps, the farm has mainly focused on its dairy operation. Nowadays, it is known to its many friends and neighbors as Woodside Farm Creamery, an oasis of green amidst the area’s development.
