Farming the First StateA sneak peak at the new Hearts and Minds Film about the history, the developing technology, and the economic impact of Delaware's thriving agriculture industry. From peaches and poultry to sweet corn and strawberries, Delaware grows it all! This project was funded by the Delaware Humanities Forum and the Delaware State Department of Agriculture, and will likely be broadcast on public television in 2013.

Ruth Lawson Kirk - Christ ChurchFounded in 1815, Christ Church in Greenville, Delaware puts forth the vision of a parish that is “living the Baptismal Covenant, the core message of which is to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves, striving for justice and peace among all people, and respecting the dignity of every human being.” Rev. Nothing Beats FunWhen the Fasnacht family bought the amusement park "Playland" on the Rehoboth boardwalk in 1962, its hurricane ravaged facade didn't look like a great investment. But now, over 40 years later, Funland, the thriving, family run park still boasts the best entertainment on the Delaware Beach. Four generations of the Fasnacht family operate the park, and grandparents now watch with glee as their youngsters ride the same rides that thrilled them in their youth! No Child Left InsideA new taskforce is developing a statewide plan to increase opportunities for children to engage in nature, both in school, at home, and on public lands. The taskforce is comprised of representatives from DNREC and the Department of Education, Nemours Health and Prevention Services, the Department of Health and Social Services, the Delaware Nature Society and numerous other state and federal agencies, and community partners. Made in DE: Home GrownT.S. Smith was established in 1907 by Thomas Sterling Smith and today remains one of two commercial orchards in the State of Delaware. Peaches, apples and other vegetable crops are still picked by hand on the 800 acre farm in Bridgeville, under the supervision of Tom, Matt and Charlie Smith. "Juicy, crispy and tasty" describes Smith produce, where an 80+ year old apple sorter is still in service and going strong! And then there are the cider doughnuts...

A Delicious TraditionThe Mitchell family of Hockessin Delaware has been operating Woodside Farm since 1796. With few gaps, the farm has mainly focused on its dairy operation. Nowadays, it is known to its many friends and neighbors as Woodside Farm Creamery, an oasis of green amidst the area’s development.
